at the harbour for generations
The story of Oma Toos
A true Dutch family restaurant full of hospitality, cosiness and grandma’s famous pancakes, with the finest view over the harbour of Scheveningen.
where it all began
At grandma's table, everyone is family
Oma Toos was born and raised in The Hague, where good Dutch food was second nature to her. At her kitchen table there was always a full pan, and anyone who dropped by simply got a plate too. Her grandchildren did not want those recipes, and above all that hospitality, to be lost, so they opened the restaurant that bears her name at the harbour.
The pancakes are still baked the way she made them: thin, golden brown and generous. The poffertjes (mini pancakes) come warm off the griddle and the stamppot (Dutch mash) changes with the seasons. Among the Delft blue tiles and the windmills on the wall, you are not just tasting a menu but a piece of The Hague family history. No fuss, just genuine hospitality at an honest price.
At grandma’s table, everyone pulls up a chair.
