Restaurant in The Hague with harbour views

Looking for a special restaurant in The Hague? Fifteen minutes from the city centre, at the Scheveningen harbour, Oma Toos serves old-Dutch dishes with a view of the boats.
the best of both worlds

A restaurant in The Hague, but on the waterfront

The Hague has hundreds of places to eat, from the Plein to the Frederikstraat. But if you are looking for a restaurant in The Hague where the outing is as special as the food, drive fifteen minutes further to the harbour of Scheveningen. There, on the Dr. Lelykade, you will find Oma Toos: an old-Dutch family restaurant with a waterside terrace and a view of the marina.

Scheveningen is officially part of The Hague, yet it feels like a day away. Instead of shopping streets you look out over sailing boats and fishing vessels, and after dinner you stroll along the quay or to the beach. That combination makes us a favourite for birthdays, family dinners or simply a night out without travelling far.

Unlike the city centre, getting here is relaxed: during the day you park for free in spacious spots right outside the door; paid parking applies from 18:00. The bus from The Hague city centre also gets you to our door within half an hour.

grandma's kitchen

Old-Dutch food like nowhere else in The Hague

The menu at Oma Toos is a tribute to the grandma from The Hague the restaurant is named after. Our house speciality is the fresh Dutch pancake, baked thin and golden brown to the family recipe, from classic plain to richly topped specials with carpaccio or smoked salmon. We also bake fluffy poffertjes (mini pancakes) all day long, and waffles and American pancakes are on the menu too.

Between 10:30 and 17:00 you can lunch on Dutch classics: kroketten, an uitsmijter (fried-egg toast), homemade soup or a fresh salad. From 17:00 the dinner menu joins in, with the stamppot of the day, oma’s steak, the Black Angus burger and the generously filled fisherman’s pan.

Everything is prepared with honest products at a fair price. Have a look at the full menu with all dishes and prices, or let our team advise you at the table.

for the whole family

A cosy family restaurant for guests aged 2 to 92

Oma Toos is a family restaurant through and through. In the middle of the restaurant stands a playhouse shaped like a Dutch canal house, where children play while you dine at ease. There are high chairs, a kids’ menu and a kids’ ice cream in a cup they can take home. At the same time the restaurant is on one level, spacious and fully wheelchair accessible, so grandparents join the table in comfort too.

The interior completes the picture: Delft blue tiles, windmills on the walls, hundreds of warm little lights and snug red benches. Tourists call it typically Dutch; locals simply call it gezellig. Either way: one visit and you will understand why we have so many regulars.

Something to celebrate? Above the restaurant we have our own floor with a terrace for parties, drinks and company gatherings, with the same view over the harbour. See the options at Parties and Events or call us for a proposal.
